Art Depot Gallery presents “FORTUNATE : Recent
Works by SUE ANNE RISCHE.” Rische returns! This time, not
only does she deliver an art show, but an experience. Works range from drawing
to installation to jewelry. All are based on the advisory words found inside
a cookie. Her drawings, comprised of fortunes in meditative repetition on several
layered sheets of tracing paper, come together to form lasting images of faces
and human anatomy. The drawings, illuminated from behind, accentuate the three
dimensional illusion created from the several layers of repetitive text. In
contemplating the labor intensive images the aspect of spiritual devotion and
energy imbued in the work is passed on to the viewer. The exhibition is at the
Art Depot Gallery, located at 1717 Texas Ave. The exhibition runs from October
5th through October 25th, 2007. The opening reception is from 6-9 PM Friday,
October 5th, 2007.
In addition to her traditionally framed art, Rische invites us into her world by encouraging the viewer to interact with innovative sculptural installations. The proverbial message in a bottle takes center stage, asking you to question current motivations and to move forward with a positive approach to your life. Rische invites the participants to the event to find magic, beauty, and good will in the air while marveling at her obsessive nature on paper, breathing in the smell of good luck, and leaving with a smile on your face.
Sue Anne Rische is an accomplished artist and an instructor at Texas Tech University.
